ROLEX - 롤렉스 부품 변경 과도기 경계의 모호성 Ambiguity of Transitional Period when ROLEX parts are changed

로렉스 시계의 부품이 구형에서 신형으로 변경되는 경우, 일반적으로 그 경계를 케이스 시리얼로 구분하려고 한다.

When the parts of ROLEX watches are changed from old to new, a transitional period is usually to be separated by the serial number on the watch case.


하지만, 그 경계는 실제로 아주 모호하다.

However, the transitional period is actually very ambiguous.

rehaut 인그레이빙은 F단위 턴오그라프 등 일부 모델에 먼저 도입되었다.

Rehaut engraving was first introduced in some models, such as the F serial Turn-O-Graph.


이것이 구그린에 적용된 사례를 통해 그 모호함을 확인해 본다.

구그린 초기에는 rehaut 인그레이빙 없다.

In the beginning, there is no rehaut engraving on the 16610LV.

하지만, 이 후 모든 구그린에 적용된 것은 아니다.

위와 같이, 케이스 적용되는 rehaut 인그레이빙 조차 케이스의 시리얼 순서대로 도입되지 않았다.

As above, even the rehaut engraving, applied to the watch case, was not introduced in order of the serial number on the watch case.


즉, 부품이 변경되는 과도기 상황에서는 구형과 신형이 모두가 병존한다.


In other words, both old and new parts coexist in a transitional situation where parts are changed.

아마도, 스위스 전역에서 생산된 개별 부품들을 롤렉스 제네바 본사에서 최종조립을 하다보니, 구형과 신형 부품이 케이스 시리얼 순서와 상관없이 조립 되는 것으로 보인다.

Perhaps, because the final assembly of individual parts produced all over Switzerland is done by ROLEX Geneva headquarters, old and new parts are assembled regardless of the serial order of the watch case.

요약하면, 롤렉스에서 부품이 구형에서 신형으로 변경되는 과도기를 케이스 시리얼로 정확하게 구분하기에는 상당히 모호하다.

In sum, it is quite ambiguous to exactly distinguish the transition period through the serial number on the watch case. 


케이스 시리얼은 케이스의 제작년도을 추측할 수 있는 보조수단에 불과하기 때문에, 실제 본사에서 최종조립되는 시점을 나타내는 것은 아니다.

The serial number on the watch case is simply an auxiliary means of guessing the year of manufacture of the watch case.

It does not indicate when the watch is actually assembled at the ROLEX Headquarters.


실제로도, 구형과 신형 부품이 일정 기간의 과도기에는 케이스 시리얼 순서와 상관없이 공존해서 조립되고 있다.

In fact, old and new parts are assembled regardless of the serial order of the watch case.
